The stand is located in the Dye Creek Preserve, to the east of Hog Gulch Road. The stand has a dense understory of non-native grasses and forbs such as Trifolium hirtum and Avena barbata. The oaks are widely scattered.; The site was burned within the last several years by the Nature Conservancy. The site is actively grazed by cattle, as it has been for much of the last century.
